We recently sat down with the fascinating woman for a peek inside her mind.
What inspired you to help people tap into their brain power to better their lives?
I had a very difficult childhood that included abuse. I was told some pretty negative things and believed them to be true. When I was 14, I was diagnosed with scoliosis. I had major surgery and was in a body cast for the majority of a year. During this time, I was physically limited and started reading books on positive thinking and wondered if it could be true. Could my life really be better than what I was experiencing? I started a lifelong love of personal development and, years later, was able to apply what I had learned to let go of the pain and trauma of my childhood. I then decided to use the same techniques to my weight … and it worked! I lost 30 pounds and kept it off. I then decided to turn my hobby into my profession and help other people do the same. It’s all a mind game and we need to learn how to play so that we are empowered.
Do you practice what you preach? And, if so, how has it changed your life?
I do my absolute best to do so. I am not perfect and have had my fair share of setbacks but I do talk the talk and walk the walk. For the most part, I am a good example of what I teach. It has changed my life in all areas. I have a much healthier relationship with food now. I’ve found out how much I love working out. In spite of my asthma and back problems, I am very healthy. I just celebrated my 55th birthday and have more endurance at the gym.
Why do so many of us fail at weight loss?
I think it is because we don’t adapt the proper mindset. You cannot try a diet to lose weight. You have to create a lifestyle that supports a healthy mind and body. Once you find a system that fits your life, you don’t need to go on and off of it. People need to change how they think to change their habits and therefore their lives.
Tell us about Neuro Linguistics Programming and the role it plays in our behavior.
Neuro Linguistics Programming, or NLP, is simply understanding the language of your mind. We have a conscious and subconscious mind. They are operating simultaneously but have different agendas. Once you understand how they communicate and what their role is you can make effective lasting changes. Everything we do is rooted in our beliefs and habits. The quickest way to make changes with our beliefs and then our habits is using the strategies we have learned from NLP.

All you need is a computer or smart phone and you can access everything from there. It is completely virtual and can be done in the comfort of your home or office.
Please share with us your favorite success story.
Gosh, that is a hard one. I’ve seen people lose up to 80 pounds on this program. That is always rewarding but I guess one of my favorites is when I was working with someone who wanted to stop eating ice cream. She ate it daily at a local creamery. The follow-up appointment was two weeks later, she lost weight and I asked how the ice cream was going and she answered, “It didn’t work.” I was surprised and asked when she ate it last and she said she had it just once in those two weeks and it seemed “stale” so she lost her taste for it. I smiled and said, “So it did work! Your taste buds changed. How does fresh ice cream get stale?” The lightbulb went off and she laughed and realized she kicked that habit. It was a great feeling. She went on to lose 40 pounds.
